Maizena Corn Starch (Corn Flour) 500g
Maizena is a fine maize starch used to thicken sauces, gravies, soups, custards and pie fillings, and to improve texture in baking and crispy coatings. In New Zealand, this ingredient may be called corn starch or cornflour; it is not the same as coarsely ground maize meal.
How to use it
- For thickening: mix with a little cold water to form a smooth slurry, then stir into the hot liquid.
- For baking: use the quantity specified in your recipe to create a lighter, more tender texture.
- For coatings: dust food lightly before frying for a crisp finish.
