A koeksister is a traditional Afrikaans confectionery made of fried dough infused in syrup or honey.
Once the dough is made it is rolled flat then cut into a very specific shape and then braided giving it’s it’s instantly recognizable appearance.
Once it is braided it is then fried in oil before being cooled in syrup. This infuses the syrup with the dough and gives koeksisters its truly indulgent taste.
The flavours come from cinnamon, ginger, and lemon, ingredients that are often included in the dough.
These plastic koeksister cutters make cutting your dough a breeze. The dough can then easily be braided and deep fried in no time at all.
This Koeksister Cutter is made with strong and durable plastic, is dishwasher safe and has been tried and tested by the Something From Home team.
